I don't have a picture, but I'm sure I have at least once seen a junction sign in France with nothing on one road, and 'Autres directions' as the only text on the sign.

In Wales I follow signs painted on the road to "Araf", but never get there. Or maybe I do...? 🤔

So absolutely no need for the ban. The vast majority of those signs should be replaced with ones saying Cyclists take care passing pedestrians, although that is stating the obvious IMO. Simple fact is on such a path a cyclist wheeling a bike takes up more width than a cyclist on a bike.

Because in some parts of the world, "squat" toilets are still quite common. People used to only those might not know how to use the seat type.
