Indeed. Thats why it’s called a beater. To solely save other bikes from weather, potential higher theft situations, damage blah blah. Ie: it is sacrificial. A beater doesn’t involve being pretentious, better than the next man or spending more than needed.

Which strangely enough is some of the dilemma the OP has in this thread……

My post was an example at whatever price point;: of how the sum of the parts is often worth less than the total price - because of manufacturers bulk buying components / cheap manufacture labour etc.
