No-one likes wasting money - i certainly don't

Ho ho  you're mixing in the wrong circles...and its not just dumb asses that waste money, its sometimes supposedy intelligent people that are worse, because they can get access to even more money than dumb asses.
2 cases in the last few days...(i hope they dont read this xx(...not very likey, they're not cycists  )
Friends of ours are skint..hes just changed jobs and they are a month short on wages and been living on whats in the house. They came back from shopping with a £200 satnav the other day

One guy i know, earns a lot of money and spends it like water. Hes spent more on cars in the last two years than i have in 15. The depreciation he's losing is phenomenal...'yeah, and you might die tomorrow' he says.

Personally...i'm not averse to spending money, but i do the homework first and make sure i really want it.
Spent about £3000 in the last 6 months in the house, decorating, carpets, furniture etc etc etc. I hav'nt spent anything on the house for a long while, it was overdue...and well worth it.
Ive also booked a holiday abroad, maybe £1500. Again, do the homework. It takes us about 2 weeks to make up our mind where to go, what hotel etc etc. Its a bloody nightmare choosing, but you dont get let down.

We were going to use the caravan this year, but then you think f'kit..you spend all year working, you might as well do something decent with the proceeds.

But, ask me to spend a fiver on something frivolous...no way.

Ive got a rubbish seatpost on my winter bike...its took me a year to find a better one cheap enough to make me want to get my wallet out.

The credit crunch for me has nothing to do with it...i've always been that way  Thats why (i think) i'm sitting pretty now. Never ever waste money, you worked hard enough to get it....

I hope to buy a new set of golf clubs after Easter.

'Maybe' a new road bike in June.

And some erotic exotic holidays over the winter. xx(

money well spent!

Sounds like retail therapy to me.

Always thought I was non-material and above it, but in hard times I bought a shed load of camera kit. Doesn't make any sense at all in hind-sight. At the time, getting out, taking pictures.. it gave me hope.

A friend of mine told me that when impulsed into buying he stops and thinks, "Did I want it ten minutes ago?". The answer is usually 'no'

I haven't bought anything bike-related for ages now, and can't think of anything big I would want. I might be buying a house later this year though! For the first time...

Good luck! Me and Ms RT have just had our offer on an old shop in Ross on Wye accepted, we're going in tomorrow morning to arrange the mortgage. It's our first house too.

Are you going to run it as a shop too?

No, the commercial lease expired years ago. It's just nice to have a room with full height windows on two sides, and it's a reasonable sized house going fairly cheaply because it's a bit different. We like it though.;)

I think it all depends on if you have a famine mentality or an abundance mentality. Me, I've always taken the view that money was made round to go round and I have never given it a second's thought. If I took the time to think about it, I'd probably conclude that I've thrown more away than some will ever have but I paid my mortgage off at 48 without ever scrimping or saving anything so must have been doing something right. I believe in the old Zen philosophy that if you hoard money, you cause a blockage in its natural flow and consequently it will never come back round to you. So ner!

I think that as you get older you want less stuff. You realise it's all just crap!

And there's something to be said for this an' all. Although I'd have to say my i-pod is one of the greatest possessions I have ever owned and I am very impressed with it. What a thing of great beauty that is!

I hate spending money, even if I have some spare.

It takes me ages to buy something and I have to convince myself that I really do need it. If I don't really need it, I usually don't buy it.

I've been thinking of buying a new mobile phone recently, so I can combine my phone, MP3 player and camera into one unit.
Quite a sensible thing to get....but I've already got a phone which works (sort of), I've got a MP3 player and I've got a camera....so I still haven't bought a new phone after 3 weeks of thinking about it.

I would say that I am matirialisatic for the same reasons, I love good design. I love objects that are well thought out and made but they don't have to be expensive. They just have to be perfect for the job.
