Were you saved by a random stranger, or were you forced to buy it yourself?

'Forced' is a bit of a strong word.

They'd initially listed it as a cable braked version and priced it accordingly, but looking at the photos and spec I thought it was the hydraulic brake one so messaged them for confirmation. Credit to Spa Cycles they admitted their mistake, amended the description but left the price as it was.

Just taken out of the box and put together to check everything was present. Need to change the saddle and chain set then get the riding position sorted and take better pictures in the sunshine (if we get any).

That is a very nice colour. Is it paint, or tinted lacquer over chrome? It's hard to tell from the photos. Either way, lovely bike!

Paint (copper) on a steel frame.

@Jenkins does yours have the 30mm Schwalbe tyres? How are they?
Yes - it came with the 30mm Schwalbe Ones and basic Shimano wheels.
I've only ridden it up & down the road to get the set up right so not given them a proper test which may happen on Wednesday. I've already ordered a pair of Vittoria 32mm from Banana Industries just to see if they look any better. My Ti version is fitted with 32mm Continental 4 Seasons on wheels with a larger rim width and just look so much better (see below) - I already have a spare pair of wheels in stock and a savings interest payout due in February...

Here it is ready to ride with the new SRAM crankset & Spa Cycles chainrings and meeting its older Ti brother.

Good evening Jenkins, I’ve followed this thread with trepidation, particularly whether Vickster was actually going to buy the bike. Then you bought a second Elan!

The Elan is one of the bikes I’m considering.

Why did you buy a steel one (nice colour!) when you already own a titanium one?

How do they compare? What’s the weight difference? Do you like the Ti? Which one do you prefer?

Simple answer - why not

As to which I prefer, it's too early to tell as I've only had the 725 for a couple of months compared to 8 years for the Ti version and they are now set up for different uses. The 725 will be more for road use while the Ti is more a mix of road and light off road with a 1x transmission.
There's little difference in the weight and I think that the 725 may be less than a kilo heavier, but this may be due to the different wheels and tyres.
The most obvious build difference is that the Ti has bigger diameter tubes than the 725.
