Might be a takeaway fat rascal...£7 eat in 😵 (and I'm from London!!)

I think they have all models to test (I can ask what size would you need?). I've just communicated with them by email so they're expecting me. I'm probably not going to ride much if at all, more just to confirm sizing (no helmet and I don't really do Shimano esp without cross-levers, I have a bag full of SRAM parts, a WSD saddle and non black bartape 😁!)

Just waiting to leave KGX 🚅

Cor, that's an expensive scone! I've only been to Betty's (in York) once, years ago, and remember it was expensive then, although I splashed out on a toasted tea-cake, and a fat rascal!

Thanks very much for offering to ask about the Mono. I can phone Spa myself, but if you do have an opportunity to ask about them I think I'd need a 58cm, but may also want to try a 56cm and a 60cm.

Do you have a bike reservation for the return journey? ^_^

I don't as they'll need to build it with the parts in my backpack first!!

I supplied my own wheels when I bought my bike from Spa. Built by a local wheelbuilder. More significantly - not built by Spa

The guy took my wheels as if I'd passed him a dog turd on a plate. He plucked the spokes, sighed and shook his head in disbelief and put them down somewhere they wouldn't contaminate anything.

Specced...going for the cheaper handbuilt upgrade.
Just need to confirm and pay for it
That's exciting!

Did you have a wee ride on the demo bike?

Also, did they give an indication of how long the build is likely to take?

I had Spa build some heavy wheels for my winter bike years ago, and never had a problem with them (other than an issue with the Schmidt dyno hub).

Around 4 weeks. I said no rush as I need to recover from heart procedure in a couple of weeks!
I did 6.5 miles mostly up and down the industrial estate to try to decide between sizes!
