I worked for a year in Harrogate when I first started work and we used to go there every Saturday when I was little to see my grandparents. For some reason, Harrogate doesn't grab me - a bit 'all fur coat and no knickers' they used to say. I prefer Knaresborough, York or Beverley, I think.

As a friend said (whose parents reside in Richmond N Yorks), Harrogate is a bit like a Northern cheaper Richmond upon Thames (I can't afford that one and way too much traffic!)

Been watching this thread with interest. I like the look of the Elan (Ti!! thinking of treating myself) and some of the Sabbaths and am planning to take a trip to Harrogate for a better look. On the phone they said just to pop in, in my cycling gear, and there would normally be someone there to demonstrate the different models, go through options etc.

I just changed into cycling tights, didn't bother with anything else. I did let them know I was coming being a Saturday but they weren't too busy. Ian was very helpful

I think the only Sabbath I saw was the AR1 (not sure what else they have now). They had mostly their own Spa models and a couple of Surly (not for testrides I think)

If they did the Elan 725 in the same metallic red as the Audax, I'd be straight up there for a fitting to get a stablemate for my Elan Ti.

Don't think they do custom paint but guess could ask?

Around 4 weeks. I said no rush as I need to recover from heart procedure in a couple of weeks!
I did 6.5 miles mostly up and down the industrial estate to try to decide between sizes!

i hope you're recovering well from your heart procedure.

Any news on your new bike, Vickster? It's hard to believe, but it's coming up for five weeks since you visited Spa - I don't know where the time goes!

Recovery going well, but I've not yet been back on a bike (plan to over weekend). I haven't actually placed the order yet (paid deposit), I probably won't ride it much in January/February so I'm dithering (and keeping the money in the bank). Spa have my groupset etc but are happy to wait. I will bite the bullet at some point, just been rather busy (and the car is playing up so...)!

I'm glad your recovery is going well.

Hopefully, you'll get your bike in time for the warmer weather next spring, and you'll be able to enjoy it more then.
