Some very interesting road sign & village names!

I was exploring around salisbury plain in my 4x4 and stumbled on a sign for "Wilsford Cum lake", least it explained why all the locals looked rather tired 8)

Well done. It's not an easy hill.

Cheers! I had to stop for a rest a couple of times, but I rode all the way. It was lovely after that though! I even stopped in a village and went up a side road (uphill!) to stop for a shandy. And I was in Newbury much earlier than I expected, so went off and explored and went off up another hill to look at a castle!

Thundergay in North Ayrshire. Iirc that was also the name of the ship in The War Of The Worlds.

The steamer began to move slowly away, but on the landward horizon appeared the silhouette of a Fighting Machine. Another came, and another, striding over hills and trees, plunging far out to sea and blocking the exit of the steamer. Between them lay the silent, grey Ironclad 'Thunder Gay'. Slowly it moved towards shore; then, with a deafening roar and whoosh of spray, it swung about and minced at full speed towards the waiting Martians.
