It's been snowing properly for well over an hour. I'm going out have a walk round and take some pictures.

+1 just got back from having a walk round with my son to his mates. Just to get out of the house for a bit.

Local park is closed 'Due to adverse weather conditions'

Hmmm.. Coming down pretty thick now. This is how it was earlier today:

Any minute I'm going to get a call to pick people up from the station.

No snow here. We're supposed to get some around Tuesday Wednesday but I am hoping not. All very pretty but no good for getting to work and getting paid.

I am going to 'Bah Humbug!' the snow this week. That is mainly because the car is in for a service and repair so I will have a little courtesy car that I can't plug my winch into nor fit my shovel in the boot. I'm going to look for some snow socks for my wheels on ebay.

Hmm, well, it's a two mile ride to fetch it, and then I suspect the snow would be up to the underside of the seat in places. If I had it here, I might have got it out for a play, but going to get it would be a long walk - I'm not riding 2 wheels in the current snow/ice combo...

Anyway, pics:

The view from the corner of my street:

Just round the corner, the little candle lights in the winow look very welcoming.

This chap looks a bit cold:

This is the standard 'flood' view, this time rendered in snow:

Cliffords Tower. The slope is tempting for tobogganing, but actually a bit too steep, and with very little space at the bottom for stopping. Also, it's a listed monument, so access to the slope is forbidden. It wasn't stopping some people...

The Ice Rink has been moved this year, but the sign amused me:

Finally, a York classic, the Shambles. They were going to knock this down, you know, in the 60s.

Wow that is romantic

Yeah, I didn't include this one....

I watched a couple of cars slither about as I walked along - fortunately, nothing too dangerous.

But you're right, it's beautiful in the snow. I was taking a snap when two ladies walked past and said how they wished they got cameras with them.

Alongside the Minster, there are real gaslamps which give an added Dickensian feeling....

I took this one a few years back and used it on my Christmas cards that year:
