Cheers! They don't quite do the scenes justice, I turned the flash off, but it over compensated the exposure a bit - it was a bit duskier than it looks for the first couple.

Lots of people out and about despite the weather, Christmas shopping. And a fair few coaches snarled up in traffic, as it's been the St Nicholas Fayre weekend.

It's a photogenic place is York! Love that white house with the german candle arches. Feel it looks a wee bit ciontrived with one in every single window though!
That one of your street looking towards the Minster is the winner if you ask me.

Lovely photos Arch - very nice camerawork. It's great to image the snow when it's new and undisturbed.

Wow, I'm glad you all like the pics. It was fun going out, with nothing to do but look around. I was nice and snug and warm in plenty of layers, coat, waterproof trousers and workboots.

Those German candle arches are in those houses, and another up the road, I think they are all owned by deans and canons and so forth, so it's perhaps a Minster tradition. They look so welcoming - like when a dolls house is lit up.

We collect recycling from round there, and we always say what a treat it is to be able to do our job in such picturesque surroudings. Might be fun tomorrow though, with packed snow....

Just a few more wintry snaps from work...

a couple of shots of the reserve:

And some of the centre:

And something I saw out of my window last night. I assume it was accidental rather than planned, but these tyre tracks look like candle flames...
