The best bike for winter I ever had, had a fully enclosed chain and drum brakes ... bliss, no cleaning ever! Oiling once every few months.
Sadly it became a rust bucket after 3 Scottish winters.
If the road have been gritted, I will throw a bucket of water on the drivetrain, GT85 and some lube.
No grit, the bikes get cleaned in rotation every month or so, but I make sure the drivetrain is always smooth.

Back in the day I was really OCD about cleanliness, so much so that id get my bike re powder coated after every ride.

Once, maybe twice per year? I will clean the mountain bike after one ride if I cannot read the stickers or the XT II on the mechs. Also if the wheels can't turn.

I am a fan of chain cleaning devices.
