6-3 wales will be annoyed with that, they should be well up by now.
Franch just look ugly and the ref is ruining the game.

Rubbish boring game. The authorities need to do something about this. The referees have too much say in how the rules are interpreted. Authorities should set the rules and referees enforce them, that is all they should do.

In tonight's Club International played in Galashiels, Scotland Club XV beat English Counties 57-27 - I was playing outdoor 5s next to the pitch and made a point of standing still for the anthems. Nobody noticed any difference...
And Scotland U20s beat Italy U20s 24-14

If only the senior team could win :banghead:

Dire game, had France had some calls go their way when camped in the Welsh 22 it could've been a different story. Wales should've done more in the first half. Can't believe how lucky North's try was!

Didn't watch a lot of it to be honest but I did see a scrum where the pause between bind and set was ridiculously long. Then the ref penalised it. I've played 2nd row rather than front but it's difficult to hold a bind forever.

In the end the score difference was greater than I thought but then the iffy France seemed to have turned up until Trinh-Duc came on.

First off... It's Laws. Not rules. Thusly referees are judges and required to interpret and apply the Laws.

Match was a pile o shite because of the players not the ref. And we focus on the ref because there was nothing else to watch.

Is it bad when I watch the game with an eye on the Refereeing because it's more fun because i can spot things that should really have been penalised but werent because it slows the game. And blow before he does on the stuff that needs dealing with

He was pretty picky around the scrum, but the current rules are much slower than the old ones I almost broke my neck playing to a few years ago (I was a completely outmatched tight head and got in a really bad position), and I hope they are safer. At least you could tell what he was penalising which is not always the case

I would have been tempted to have given a penalty try at one point during the French attack in the second half, but overall I think he got the big calls right, and I'm really not a fan of Wayne Barnes normally.

I hope there's some better rugby tomorrow though as that was disjointed and poorly executed. I think the farcical way the try came about just about sumed things up.

Careful...or some of the more pedantic posters here will have you for that. Anyway, my position is well known I think. Authorities set the laws, players play the game. Referees enforce the laws. No interpretation. And if the refs do push at the envelope of interpretation then they're out. It's then up to the authorities to make a set of laws that result in a fair and exciting spectacle

But your position is completely at odds with that of the Authorities who require the referees to interpret the Laws, and to interpret them differently at different levels of the game.

A "just enforce the Laws" model would result in uncontested scrums from kick off to no side and the complete abolition of lineouts in a matter of one or two seasons as, at every level of the game, in every one of these set pieces, at least one player breaks one Law, every single time. But not all Law breaking is material, or so the Authorities say, and they leave it to the referee to interpret that.

You may dismiss it as pedantry if you wish. But it is so much more than that.

Rugby has Laws because Laws require a judge and that judge is the referee and they exercise judgement, under extreme pressure, for 80 minutes whilst we sit on the sofa moaning.

Rigid rules require no judgement, just a rigourous application. So no judge. So a rules based game can be umpired, in the tennis way.

Rugby is far too complex and dynamic and violent for a rules-based model to work.

Don't think I've ever seen a French side so bereft of coherence or conviction. What a sad, drab, shapeless spectacle. Hope today's has more to offer. Can't be less, God knows...
