Not particularly aimed at Dave7 but being in a business where the public can leave reviews on a third part site, is scary. Cannot believe an identical product gets such huge swing in opinion. Some seem to be reviewing something completely different. Or as an example the size of the product is clearly advertised and you get reviews such as "too small" "its huge" and mark you down.

If I am honest on a website I used to run we used ot leave the negative review up for a week or two and then delete it, one person emailed the day after theirs was removed, they must have kept coming back to enjoy their scathing review, they were REALLY irate assorts of threats.

I do agree with you. My son runs a restaurant and he had a run of negative reviews put on trip advisor by a competitor.
I also agree with the point you make about the massive swing in opinions.
It just shocked me to have it declined just because it was negative.
So basically.........we just cannot trust reviews:sad:

Most websites back end software also allow you to write your own reviews, or edit existing ones. Amazon is fairly accurate as long as it is a verified purchase. But even then there is lots of ways around that, there are companies set up like call centres for purchasing products the seller never sends the items and pays the commission on the sale but gets glowing reviews. Also discounting something by 50-75% only if you give a review. Pretty sure I got this offer like that on a cycle light set on Amazon.

I purchased a pair of padded bib shorts from. . [SigmaSports] . . . I have done 2 rides in these **** shorts and after 30 miles I was in pain
Name the **** shorts @Dave7 - at least we can benefit from the (censored) knowledge that they were not as comfy for you as the Enduras (model?) after two rides. Why did you choose those shorts? Are the shorts of comparable cost?

They are Pearl Izumi. Didnt mention name as I am not saying they are poor. They are a good fit and nice material....just the padding is not as good (for me) as the Endura. They were on offer from £104 to £60 so gave it a punt. Endura are £70 normal price.

Pads differ don't they? Linking to your other thread, how can one discover this without trying them out for a decent ride or two - very difficult. My two relatively cheap Lusso pairs have served me well and I keep them for long audaxes (the pads are fabric type without 'gel') whereas the various newer pairs with gel do not seem so comfortable.
