I can put up with the cold weather. It's the strong easterly wind that I've had enough of.

I did 27 miles around Swansea today and it was the hardest ride I have ever done. I am larger than the average rider so suffer more in the wind.

At one point today I was doing only 7.5mph on the flat. The forecast for the next few days shows the wind continuing.

Careful with that axle Eugene
Same here, went for a tour round Bredon Hill (Worcs), and on the part of the ride into the wind it was like the brakes were binding! What I want to know is, when do we get some of this? :sun:

Do it in reverse, think about wind direction before setting off. I know on the east coast there's no choice to go east first.
The latter part of my ride today was going s.e. so it wasn't so bad, the flattest section was almost into the wind from 15 to 20 miles was almost into it but it had dropped to below 5mph so didn't see so bad.

You might regret it when it does arrive.

I'm on east coast and the wind gets on my tit5. I too don't mind the cold or a bit of reason but the wind is a killer...roll on summer!

I did 26 miles today and my right eye watered from the 1st minute to the last! Was worn out at the end too and had run out of tissues!

It might get warmer in summer but we still get winds, I dont have data for the first two months I was cycling last year and costal areas will always have some form of on/off shore winds. This is the average wind speeds I have ridden in since Aug.

I dont remember that much rain/snow in March to be honest. So you see it doesn't really change much.
This is a graph showing daily wind speed average for the rides.

On Friday I went out for 35 miles, it was really nice. On Saturday afternoon I had a window of opportunity for a quick local loop of 12 miles. the last mile and a half is up a lazy, gradual slope. All I could think was "Who had this bright idea....?" It was one of those moments where I could have got off and sulked like a 4 year old, arms folded, lip out and facing away from the bike!!!
