Judging by most comments here, I'm in commuting heaven.

Sheltered & secure parking with CCTV cameras plus right outside main security office.

3 individually cubicled showers & heated lockers so that tower is dry by the next morning.

Hi,

Thanks for all the responses.

Quite a variation! Much more than I was expecting as I thought there would be standardised designs for a certain level of facilities.
I was amazed to read that some of you don't have a shower at all! - Being a bit unfit, I tend to sweat a fair bit so I know that I would be very unpleasant to be around if I didn't have a shower.

I was also surprised at the variation of opinions to the privacy/communal aspect. My hang up with it, is less about 'what makes me a man', but more about weight. Most of the cyclists in work are very experienced and tend to be very toned, and one of the reasons that I started cycling was that I have few stone that I'd like to shift. I think that's the aspect that would bother me the most, and I imagine that if I were a toned and experienced cyclist, I would care much less about it.
Many of my colleagues have differing issues with it, which I believe are less to do with weight.
We're still pushing management to have things changed however...

Thanks once again,

MG

For me the 'issue' is not the showers, it is bike storage. - we have plenty of showers/chaging rooms being a boarding school, all of the facilities are therefore single sex. The issue is that I have to ensure there are no students using them/the changing room, because they are all 'open' and being a member of staff, I can't be in the shower room with a student in there. This generally is not too much of a problem though because I prefer to use the dry girls changing room and the students are usually at breaskfast when I am showering. The wet girls changing room is more of a problem if I am swimming as well though.

The biggest issue is that there is nowhere to store my bike during term time. In the holidays, I bring it into IT, during term time, I have to prop it up against the server room wall outside and pray no-one removes it. I guess I just prefer to be able to see it because there is nothing to lock it to.
