Depends how long the cafe stop was - I'm not long back from our 10am 50miler... but we're freewheeling and it was a very good lunch though

I got back about 40 minutes ago. 62.178 miles in 4 hr 49 mins 50 secs. It was supposed to be a 50 mile run and yes i suppose it was from Whalley to Settle then to Bashall Barn, with the extra miles taken up travelling to and from the start and finishing point.
When i got there this morning i was surprised how many were there. I expected there to be about 10 or so but i counted around 40! I paid 2 quid to sign in then we were off. They were ok, quite friendly and i've been invited to join the club..no wonder at £43 for the year! I might go out with them next Sunday, though it's a 70 miler so i'll see if i'm up for it!

Hope Accy didn't start talking about his bike buying thoughts and the various bikes he considered. If he did he will be found later today face down in a ditch.

Yes i did mention bikes slightly but i don't think they're interested in carbon fibre. Most seemed to have steel jobbies as heavy as blacksmiths anvils!

Yeah i suppose, i'm just used to the 15 quid a year for North Lancs Road Club membership.

The £43 is for CTC or now as someone pointed out, CUK membership. This includes insurance and a monthly magazine.

I've just looked that up and found it's a Friday night ride to the coast. I hope that's the west (from here) and not the east coast!

I seem to recall they went to the coast at John O' Groats once.
The title "ride to the coast" leave the options wide open.
