I'm up early, it's supposed to be a decent day and there's nothing much to do apart from ride a bike. The trouble is i fancy a long(ish)ride but there's no one to go with. So i was wondering about tagging along with this lot. http://www.cyclinguk.org/local-groups/blackburn-and-district-ctc. I don't know any of them, and i haven't made contact with them asking them if i can ride with them. What would you do? Do you think they wont mind if i tag along with them without invite? I notice their ride today is a short 50 miles

17/04/2016 50 Miles or 50km within 5 hours Std Ride WBS 09:30 Settle Bashall Barn 50

to Settle and back, which i've done quite a few times with my Wednesday group. 50 miles in 5 hours is ok for me. I've got to decide in the next half hour! Go or not?

Go. CTC rides are usually a friendly bunch.

This is probably of absolutely no help at all..................but I enjoy cycling on my own. I can go at my own pace, stop to enjoy the scenery etc. I see no pleasure in riding in large groups.
But that's just me
Solidarity and support with problems, someone to talk to at the cafe stop, people who can point out good routes and interesting scenery... but if you want to ride alone, that's fine too. Just say hi when we do

I always make it a point to acknowledge others (as they pass me at 25mph  )............and invariably they acknowledge me.
TBH...........the point I was (badly) trying to make is that the OP can still enjoy a ride if he can't find a group to go with.
AND............I admit to "knocking it before I've tried it" as I have never ridden in a large group.

I hope the OP had a good ride, I'm sure they are a friendly bunch.

I'm not sure about this whole business of making an appointment to go on a bike ride though. Why would any club or group mind if you tag along? Surely the whole point of group riding is to get as many people out as possible- if there are too many for one group then split into two. I am stunned that anyone would think they need an invite to go on a clubrun. There must be some really, really strange clubs out there.

You can ride a bike go. I wish I could at the minute. The only bike I can ride is in North Wales. Can we swap - you come and do some painting, and I'll go out.

I'm sure nobody will mind you tagging along - it's how new members start.
