I can see the problem here.

You had the shingles jab. The anti-shingles jab is what you should have asked for.

I've had one Shingles jab with no side effects...
I thought single one was sufficient?

The “old” vaccine was a single jab but the new one is two doses upto 6 months apart dependent upon the reason for having it.

Also eligibility is different now as it includes immune suppressed and selected groups aged 50 and over.

@Domus - when I had mine my arm was very tender for a few days but no other symptoms.

As you say two about 6 months apart, I was VERY unwell after the first one, so much so I said I wouldn't have the second one. However a friend who got Shingles persuaded me. Feeling a little better now, thanks for your concerns.

You’ve had a minor inconvenience compared with having shingles. It’s over two years since I was really ill with shingles and still suffering PHN waking through the night with an unsatable urge to scratch my forehead off coupled with electric shocks and hot nails pushing into my scalp most days.

I've had both shingles jabs last year, without problems. Now I'm waiting for an RSV jab, next month.

Anybody had an RSV jab?

It's as you say. The actual rash clears up, but the nerve pain is still there for long afterwards. People might be sympathetic while you've got the rash, but when it's something they can't see, less so.

Is that the one against some form of pneumonia? If so, I had it a few months ago. I didn't nofice any reaction to it.

They wouldn't give me the shingles jab last year but will do later this year. There is a silly rule about qualifying age... If I were a few years younger then I could have got it last year!

... and does it cure it?
That's not what a vaccine does! It prepares the body to be able to fight off a pathogen, should one ever be exposed to it.

It is too late after already catching it. Sorry, it is still worth having the vaccine to help protect against future infections.
