Two great videos! If only it happened more often, there would be a lot less bikes stolen.
If anyone thinks we should let the law deal with these scroats, you're having a laugh. The chances of the culprits ever being identified are slim; the chances of a successful prosecution even slimmer; and if it all comes to a successful conclusion they will probably get a fine equal to a fraction of the cost of the stolen bike .

The downside in good old Britain of course is that they would probably lock you up for a long time for daring to inflict some pain on the poor bike thief. Human rights and all that crap. I for one am all for giving them a taste of the pain that the victims of crime suffer, well done the folks on both clips .

two men beating on one man, is poor show. Its only a bike which they got back. The first video was how it should be done.

This. There is no excuse for mindless violence like that. Shame on the guy filming it too.

I totally agree with you however the thief from the first video will do again and again.. The one on the second will think twice.

or the chap who got the beating will next time take a knife or a metal bar with him in case he is cornered again. So the "beaters" then start to carries knives....

ONLY a bike?? Which could be worth a lot of money, and someone has worked hard to earn the money to pay for it!

As for 2 people onto 1; fair point. But there is safety in numbers, and if the thief is low enough to steal a bike then perhaps he might be low enough to pull out a knife? I think the 2 against 1 is justified here.

I would assume 1 was the judge and the other the jury then.

Wait.... oh.

Better than that; they would appear to have been eye witnesses to a crime which the accused had admitted to  . If you believe in the British justice system then I am going to assume you have never been a victim of crime, or worked in the said system? Let me assure you, it is a complete and utter shambles which holds no deterrent to the career criminal.

The 2 guys in te first video should have sat on the theif and waited for the cops. Or at the very least held onto his bag. If he had a problem with that he was at liberty of complaining that he had a right to take bolt cutters to others property an then take the property. He doesn't "high tail it around the corner" he simply walked away with the tools of his trade.

The 2nd video makes me think of the old rule in the wild west, where horse thieves were lynched. He wasn't realy hurt just shaken and his face put on the web for all to see  .

I agree with not taking the law into your own hands but when it's your property that is being nicked you will be a more than a little hyped up and maybe react that way.

I was shown This by my son last night, I wish more people took notice like she did and reacted too it, plus I hope the police capture the culprit or This to the ones caught

ANECDOTE WARNING

Years ago a friend was helping me decorate so I popped round the corner to get ice-creams.

Stupidly I didn't chain my bike up, but propped it against the window so I could still see the rear wheel. While I was queueing, the bike 'rolled away'.

I rushed out and a man was straddling it and about to ride off.

He apologised and made to hand it back but I was cross, so I beat him and beat him and beat him. He fell and I continued.

I was pulled off him in the end by two guys in welder's masks (surreal image) from an adjacent scrap merchant.

I left the thief on the road and in pain. I think I am a nice person, but I feel no remorse about that.

The guy at corner shop (I knew him well) didn't ask for money for the ice-creams and offered to call the Police, for whom I had no need.

When I got home with the (melted) ice-creams, my decorating pal thought I'd been mugged.

I didn't realise I'd cut my brow giving a head-butt, so my face & t-shirt were covered in my own blood.

My pal still doesn't believe I wasn't mugged, but a few neighbours heard the story and my stock was high in that street for some time.

Months later I saw the thief selling a bicycle to a dodgy LBS in the neighbourhood. I never used the LBS again, which was a shame as they were dead good. Also, my kicking clearly didn't reform the guy.

I've had a few bicycles stolen over the years, usually through my own laziness in leaving them unlocked. That's the only time I've had a chance to address the issue with the malefactor.

I thank you for your reply.
It is respect for the rule of law and the high moral code that the law represents that makes the UK the great country that it is.
When you have lived in a lawless country where butality reigns you appreciate this. UK is good.

Welcome to CycleChat and the UK, Emmanuel  .

I appreciate that you have lived somewhere with a brutal regime and therefore the UK seems to be good in comparison. I just get frustrated because we are on a downhill path in this country and things could be so much better; the justice system is poor and needs to keep a lid on things.

Where did you live anyway; Greenock? ;)
