Thanks all for your support and opinions. It stiffens the resolve to get this seen to, although as it was others at greater risk than myself I feel a far greater duty to report than when it's solely me that is clipped or threatened.
With incidents like this I compile a package with all the relevant footage in several formats, along with a statement and witness details on a USB drive. I put a copy of the video on my mobile phone and print out the statement and other details before going to the police. So far this has been a very effective way of making a complaint.
I've deliberately refrained from elaborating on the footage too much in the expectation that there should be a prosecution. Making the footage public does serve a purpose at this stage although I do expect to be asked to remove it temporarily if prosecution does commence.
To answer a couple of questions:
I've got a new MiniDVR HD helmet camera from dogcamsport.co.uk which replaces my MiniDVR III. The DVR III is now mounted inside my right hand bar end for a rear view. I suffer from a large number of close and punishment passes and this position gives the best perception of the nature of those.
I've found the weather quite mild recently and I'm enjoying being free of my longs. Knees seem to enjoy the change too.
A few facts and a transcript of the incident:
The road is subject to a 20mph limit. Before braking to a stop at the pedestrian crossing I was travelling at a speed between 20.7 and 25.1mph. I gave an arm signal indicating that I intended to slow down or stop before the driver first attempted to pass. I was travelling in a primary position and on the approach to the crossing I was in what could be termed a 'super primary' position. My footage clearly shows the registration number of the overtaking vehicle.
Transcript:
Me: Where are you going? There's nowhere to go.
Driver: F*ck off!
Me: Jesus Christ!
Me: Would you like to cross the road?
Pedestrian: Scary isn't it?
Me: Yeah.
