PC2K picks up the MaggoT1000 and drops him in melted metal in a foundry thingy - like in Terminator 2!

It's actually not musicianship, it relies heavily on guitar effects and sleight of hand. Buy a guitar and a fuzzbox and I could have you playing like satriani in 3 months.

It's clever, but not as difficult as proper jazz or classical.

I don't like coldplay that much, but at least they will be remembered unlike the semi-coherent overrated wibbling of satriani.

I have to DISAGREE with you there, Arb!!!

After learning to play some of satch's stuff I can say that most of it is very hard to play. (just listen to surfing, or back to the shalla bal, satch boogie, one big rush for starters) If you can teach me to play satch's "Mystical Potato head groove thing" in 3 months then where do you live and how much do you charge?

It's clever, but not as difficult as proper jazz or classical.

can you post some stuff of satch's that you can play on youtube for us to see please?

No, you couldn't. Not least because it's as much about muscle strength and muscle memory as actual musical ability. He also has a fairly clean setup as they go, especially live. Not like the bloody Edge or someone like that (who is barely a guitarist)

That statement just proved your lack of accomplishment as a musician. 'Proper jazz'? Joe Satriani never claims to be any kind of jazz...
'classical'? Hard yes, but not the be all and end all. Improvise me some legato lines as smoothly, fluently and intelligently as Satch, then I'll take it all back.

I wouldn't play his stuff if you paid me. I was into that metal masturbation until I was about, ooh twelve years old.

Then I discovered Johnny Marr and Tom Verlaine - inventive and soulful guitarists.

I couldn't even get close to satch's stuff....I was a better guitarist a few years ago than I am today, but even then Satch is in a league of his own...Just below Yngwie:biggrin:

Who was claiming they could play his stuff?...in 3 months???....erm...right..ok...:headshake::ohmy::laugh:

Here we go, yngwie malmsteen... another geek who has helped to destroy rock music as we know it.

Yes. I could play anything they could in 3 months - maybe that would be 3 months off work full time admittedly.

And that is the shamefaced workmanlike attitude these gorks foster.

I must admit my love of rock will always be with the British 'twin' guitarists.
I still carry the flag for the likes of KK Downing & Glen Tipton, Dave Murry & Adrian Smith, Brian Robertson & Scott Gorham, to name but a few.
