With such lovely scenery planned for our route and TWO potential
cake stops.. I'm not surprised all the females want to
come along! As a bonus it will be much warmer than
our last ride as well.. I can finally put away those heated gloves !!

Now if I had said that it would probably snow. You are right though, I don't mind wind or rain at this time of year because at least you won't freeze...........I hope.

Ssssssssssh! :stop:

I got caught out in a sudden downpour 'on the tops' in June or July once and I went from sweating in temperatures like today's to violent shivering from being soaked by near ice-cold water! I was in summer kit and had no protection from those conditions. Fortunately, the freak storm blew over in a couple of minutes and I soon warmed back up.

Another time, there was a freak hailstorm and I had to stop riding because there were so many hailstones on the road that it wasn't safe to continue!

Blimey... please don't bring any of that cold rain or storms with you! Else there will be 5 very cold ladies that you will have to warm up ;)

Phew! You answered that in a very diplomatic way, I was between a rock and a hard place thinking how to answer that one. Yes, that Jodrell Bank ride will be remembered for a very long time, I will never forget lecabnoir stood in the cafe as an expanding puddle of water spread out from around her feet.

Rode through Rutlandshire yesterday. The little bit that juts into Lincolnshire between Bourne and Stamford. Waved at Angel Diva as I passes through Stamford. The weather was awesome.

It might be today, but have you seen the forecast for next weekend?
Nope, and neither have you, I don't care if the weather is rubbish next weekend as we are riding on Monday ^_^. BTW you will be pleased to know dr_pink is back to her winning ways, top ride today.

How do you know it was Angel Diva?

Well done dr_p, for whatever it was! (I'll nip over to the RTTC site in a minute to investigate before I watch the Giro replay on Eurosport Player.)
Thanks Colin and Potsy. It was a sporting course - so pretty 'rolling'.(You won't find it on RTTC yet Colin, it was a Northants & District CA event and they're not always that fast at submitting results!)

Have seen it was 20.8 miles, so that's just over my commute distance(there and back) which I do in around 1.15 on a good day.
So, giving you an extra few minutes being a girl, I estimate your time at 1.18, am I close?

That would have put me last!!! 55.13. Still not fast enough really though - 31 men managed to go faster...

On another note - we rode round the route for the ride this thread is supposed to be about today. Here are some of my thoughts...
It could be an interesting ride - i lost count of the number of pretty pubs with beer gardens that we cycled past...:thumbsup: and we're spoilt for choice on cafe stops.
There are some excellent downhills that ColinJ will love - a few places for a well timed bunny hop too! (TF entertained some folk who happened to be sitting near a cattle grid...)
On the way back TF is keen to show you all the reservoir and so we're doing a bit of the track around it - this is fine and today it was truly beautiful. BUT (as Angel Diva will know) when the weather's nice these annoying things called pedestrians appear :cycle: TF enjoyed scaring many, but there were a few hairy moments with small people on wobbly bikes
The rest of the route was quiet traffic wise - except for a convoy of old triumphs. The weather was gorgeous and the yellow fields are still in full flow. It was 55 miles, we took it easy, stopping here and there for a photo, coffee, ice cream..

There was the odd hill here and there...
