And another one bites the dust..........Sorry, the words to a song just came to mind. Having ridden with you up there it's a real pity you can't make it particularly as dr_pink has been getting together a portfolio of things to see and do for the non cyclists, oh well........feel another song coming on. Do let us know when you can make it down.

im very tempted, as would an ideal prep. ride for my l2b on the 17th. is it very hilly? not to great on hills sas im a big bugger. longest ride to date is 36miles at an ave 14mph. so would it kill me is the question? oh, that and is there any room still?

No, it was a shocking performance - my slowest ever time on that course - 60-90 seconds down on what I should have been able to do. :cursing: Think the 100 wiped me out last week. So typical me to have a bad day on the one occasion that everyone notices!

I am attempting to put together an itinary for riders' other halves to enable more of you (yes you Potsy) to come down that weekend (so far it includes the Rutland agicultural show, pubs, shops, the chocolate cafe, and an Oakham jubilee fete, ...)

You would have beaten me if that's any consolation?
Can't be on top form all the time dr_pink, sure you'll be back once they put a few hills in

Without going back and looking, were you thinking of coming on one of my rides a while back? Anyway, yes there are hills, can't really avoid them if you stay within Rutland, but that's the reason it is so beautiful. As with all forum rides, no one gets left behind and those capable of it help out. I am sure there will be others who find hills a problem but to put it into perspective I can do this without getting off on my fixed gear bike and that is a 50t front chain ring and a 18t rear sprocket so it can't be that bad. I can't help you more than that I'm afraid, and yes, there is room :

Easy for you and the Mrs - who I gather from posts on other threads are both adept at the old hill climbing. I'm scared now as when I encounter a hill I go at snails pace. I'm hoping there will be other snails on this ride to keep me company. I've not done a group ride before. Will it be quick or are some of you a little slower? For example my ride today in flat Norfolk was 55 miles in a time of 4.18 average speed 12.7

I have been on a forum ride with Totally Fixed and dr_pink and I can assure you you have nothing to worry about and they are both great company. A real shame I cannot make this one due to Mrs 4F and some neighbours arranging an early street party, I know where I would rather be....

Thanks for that, had wondered where you had been, hope all is well. We are certainly easier to get to now we live in Oakham, 50 mins from the A14 outside Cambridge and of course it is a fast run from yours to there so you must come over when you get time. I would have said ignore Potsy but that doesn't work and dr_pink has a soft spot for him, or should that be he has a lot of soft spots ^_^

Yep will do, I am very well thanks and a damm site slimmer then when we met ^_^ . I know Oakham well as I have a client there that I normally pop in and see each Christmas. Don't worry I have met "Potty" :hello: at one of the Manchester track sessions and know what he is like...

Oops sorry Potsy, confusing you with Colly. No doubt we will meet at some stage as I certainly intend to come up for one of Colins hilly rides in the future.

Oh yes .. count me in please, looking forward to it
You may have noticed, I already did
Batesey is a maybe!!
Well if he does come we will have most of the original Rutland riders plus quite a few more, and I think we have 5 ladies which may be a record percentage wise. BTW we are stopping at your favourite cafe but taking a route there I doubt you have done before, TBH there are too many options!
I have changed the route slightly went and did it today on fixed but it was hard in the heat, lots of yellow fields and quite hazy so I took a few pics to whet the appetite.

With such lovely scenery planned for our route and TWO potential
cake stops.. I'm not surprised all the females want to
come along! As a bonus it will be much warmer than
our last ride as well.. I can finally put away those heated gloves !!
