I admit I couldn't give so much as a gnat's bollock of concern about a footballer writing off his car.

Agreed, except that knowing the road, if he managed to write it off there, I can't imagine how he could have done it except by doing something utterly stupid, and perhaps it's lucky he didn't kill someone else.

I suppose it's not just footballers - how many Lamborghinis has Tom Boonen written off in the last 12 months ?

From other reports it sounds like he was deliberately changing down the gearbox (does make a wonderful sound in the tunnel) and it put the car right back in the power band and he stuffed it. Berk.

Witnesses at the scene of the Ronaldo crash say he was only lightly tapped by a car from behind, when all of the sudden the car flipped over and rolled ten times. It then span around on the spot for two minutes, then all the wheels fell off and it caught fire.

What is he - 23 ?
No sense, no car control, but enough money to buy a Ferrari and to insure it (plus a Bentley and whatever else he's got).
