sorry - mistaken idIf your anything like your profile picture higher pressures may be better lol alot of it depends om your weight
I understand what you are saying - but some of the roads i use are not full of pot holes but have rough surfaces - as you say it is a personal thing and reducing my tyre pressures has worked for meAs said further up, it's a personal thing so long as you stay with the min and max on the sidewall. I'm not sure why people have been saying that one responders pressures are way too high as it is purely personal choice. I run my road bike tyres at 145psi without any problems.
The first practical pneumatic tire was made by Scottish inventor John Boyd Dunlop while working as a veterinarian in May Street, Belfast in 1887 for his son's bicycle, in an effort to prevent the headaches his son had while riding on rough roads.
just been out again and covered 30 miles - i had the front at 95 rear at 100 - what a difference - and would you believe it faster - even though that wasnt the reason i was seeking advice - i realize now that in the past i was braking for rough patches to relieve the stress - not any more - my tyres now stay at 90 and a 100.Pneumatic tyres were invented as a simple but effective form of suspension. (Wikipedia article.)
The suspension effect is pretty much negated by pumping up to super-high pressures such as 145 psi! I can see that would be great on the track, but on typical UK roads ...?
I was getting battered by crummy road surfaces on my forum ride yesterday and I was only using about 90 psi front and 100 psi rear!
I know i said the other day that it is a personal choice - i to used 145 psi and thought it was ok - and i cant believe the improvement in my performance by reducing my pressures by 33% - why not try it if it doesnt work for you ok carry on as you are - by the way i am 13 stone - this may help you to draw a comparison. As said further up, it's a personal thing so long as you stay with the min and max on the sidewall. Do you get an excessive amount of p'tures, if not, that's perfect; if you do, you may want to put more air in.im large size but not as large as my profile pic I only done it for a bit of fun im about 18stone I run my tyres a 100psi is that ok for my size ?
