In a couple of months time the 2012 bikes will start to come out, you should be able to get a real bargain on a 2011 Allez then. I'd expect you'd pick one up for £350-£400. If you can save the amounts you would pay in finance charges for a couple of months you should have the cash to pick up a bargain.

Is that not a reason to stay away from them if you are on a budget?

8 speed like on the bike i linked come in at about £80 for both and my accident was just dumb luck.

Right, wow, thanks, thats ALOT of replies. Well, i can't go onto any cycle to work scheme as i am 17 and doing my A-levels. My monthly income is very low, however it should be able to cover the finace on a bike upto say £30 a month which (going on the deals in the cycling rag i bought the other day) would be fine. Plus, as stated if i were to go for the finance option i would ask a rental to help with it (christmas present or somthing along thoes lines...). My previous bike was a giant compact road bike which liked to go wrong...ALOT but it was a lovely thing to ride (just the road bike experience made me happy *im an odd kid* ). Right, now this is almost definatly completely me being a massive snob and please feel free to tell me im massivly wrong, but would the £200 viking be anything near as good as an allez or similarly prices trek/giant/scott a couple of years older?? Just the differnce in price implies to me that build quality would be massively different?? Also, anybody got any opinions on that Raleigh in nottingham?? I thought raleigh road bikes werent supposed to be up to what they used to (again if im wrong, im sorry). I hear what your saying about looking around ebay/gumtree ect, but, would somebody give me a list of (1-3 year old) bikes which i might find falling into budget if im slightly luck?? (carrera/boardman/specialised/giant/scott/ribble...) Beause tbh im no good at the actual models, only the brands... Well, i know a little of the specialised range, thats it. Also, what are peoples opinions of the brand new budget bikes (£200-£300) as oppose to the second hand bikes in a price range similar??
Sorry for rambling, im really very interested
Cheers,
Mike

Pool your Christmas money - ask relatives for cash and explain. I've done this, PS I'm old enough now for the 'dont know what to get him' so I said a little cash towards a bike item - this has been some nice carbon shoes one year, and a Garmin 705 last year. It's better than getting a stupid singing mug.

Hey guys,
well i almost feel as though im a new member, when infact i have had an account for years. However, due to annoying growth spurts which rendered my then road bike painfully small to ride which led to its sale... I havent been on in a long time. However i have recently began to really really really want another road bike. However, as always there is a catch, i have a girlfriend and a motorbike... or 3 (these both lead to an empty space in my wallet you see). Therefore I currently am very short of funds. And as much as i want a road bike, i really dont want to have to buy a buget bike which will die after a matter of 10-12 rides  My current thinking was to buy a specialised allez on finance over christmas (parents pay the deposit and i pay the monthly installments) But this still totals up to a lot of money which i do not have. So I was thinking second hand, a couple of years old... say an 08/07 allez... but even these seem to go for a good £400 on ebay which has me confused. Now im not expecting any quick fixes of bombs of wisdom, and am fully expecting to still have to chip out the necessary evil (£500+) for a bike i want. But if anybody has any ideas, that would be wonderful. Oh, and for the record, i could currently strech to like £200 straight, hence finace seems to be my only option...
Cheers,
Mike

Do I read this right - You have 3 motorbikes? If so then sell 2!

Opinions on this bike: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RIBBLE-AUDAX-RACING-BIKE-CARBON-FORKS-MAVIC-WHEELS-ECT-/190563520048? pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item2c5e788e30
and given the info at the bottom of the page, what size inside leg would this bike suit? Or any other way i can work out if it would fit me...

Looks a nice bike , it will go for a lot more than it is currently at.

The seller does not list the size of the bike, you will have to contact the seller and find out what size the seat tube and top tube are before you can tell if the bike will fit you.

If it's any help to you ?? My daughters partner has a Decathlon 54cm, 24, gears, colour red and white, about 9, months old and hardly used at all, (Basically as New) They live at Mortlake near Richmond London. He'll take £170, for it. That has to be a bargain. Original cost was over £325,

You can email at : mattyb95@hotmail.com for more information.

He has said this about the size of the bike, what sort of size person would this fit??

centre of crank to top ofseat tube is 20inches - 50.5cm from ground to top of cross bar is 29inches - 74 cm centre of seat tube to centre of handlebar tube is 21inches - 50cm centre of crank to rear axle is 15 3/ inches 40cm

And Moss, do you have a link to a website to show what the bike looks like/is?? And what sort of size your daughter's partner is if it fits him?? Also, what would he say about postage given that i live in yorkshire??
