It's not quite dead, just diminished.

No, just pining for the fjords.

I thought it was probably that. On the test I score high end for Asperger's which wouldn't surprise my wife; her training and experience was focused on people with Autism, and she's often said I show a lot of symptoms.

Maybe worth investigation.

However, we're getting off the topic of Jazz; oh, wait...

I think it likely that autistic people are somewhat overrepresented on internet forums compared to the general population, especially ones that deal with a specific interest or hobby. I'm not sure it's a card you can play like the op seemed to, put it that way. Someone's gonna trump it*.

*Trump it. Trumpet. Jazz, geddit? Never mind.

You could be right there. I don't know it's a fair card to play in any case; it can come across like like an attempt at emotional blackmail, but that may be because I get that at work fairly frequently.

Trump it... Trumpet... Um... I'll think about it...

Epilepsy, but why should that influence my replies to posts on a thread that turned into how people react to death.

Why would I want to use the fact that there's a disability, that makes me different at times from most folk. So until now, on this thread it's not been mentioned.

I think autism particularly does affect the way one understands and experiences emotions and concepts such as grief and respect, so it is relevant. However, one needs to take into account that other people have their own experiences and understanding. It might be the case that if one scores highly on the (questionable) 'AQ' tests then a formal diagnosis might help in understanding oneself and others, and the different ways we experience and communicate our thoughts.

It's no secret that I'm autistic, but I'm far from the only one regularly posting on the forum, I've just maybe banged on about it a bit more than some.

That last part, in bold, is the important part. You've not been quiet about it, and haven't introduced it to try and explain the choice of wording in your posts.

I've probably brought it up more to try and clarify my misunderstanding of other peoples choices of wording. And to try to explain why I might come across as difficult sometimes. And I mention it here to try to understand myself really as I came to a diagnosis quite late in life. That's why I mention that a formal diagnosis might be useful for some, although I'm aware that others would prefer not to have one. It's certainly helped me to embrace it as part of my identity.
