Maybe one consolation is that he was still able to have a pretty good quality of life and independence well into old age. Outings on his trike, frequent ferry trips to Oban and so on. That of course makes his death more of a shock, but it must be better than years of suffering.
Man, really sorry to hear this; I always enjoyed his contributions.
Thoughts are with his family and thanks to Neil for taking the time to let us know when he doubtless has a lot of other stuff to think about / deal with.
Last posted on 20th. Saying he was tired and sleeping a lot. But no suggestion of illness.
Still moaning about the ferry!
If you are going to go, then this is almost the best way to go.
That is a real shame and a sad loss to CC.. Even more so to his family and friends.
His death must have been very sudden as he was posting just before Christmas. Hopefully it was peaceful and pain free.
I always felt a sort of affinity with him as another person with connections to the Scottish islands. Ride free @oldwheels .
Many thanks to everyone for your kind messages. They are a comfort to us.
He passed peacefully in his bed on 22nd December.
I will try to continue his cycling legacy.
Neil
