12 million Turks heading our way apparently to go with the 40 gazzilion Bulgarians who sneaked in while the Press filmed 1 guy at the Airport a couple of years ago, so keep it up cyclists work for all

I like those rubbish net bins you get on the cycle routes in Holland and Belgium.

Brushed up on my netball skills whilst touring using these.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I carry all my rubbish in my pockets till i reach a bin at a stop, except for the bit of fruit cake wrapped in cling film at the midland monster.
I couldnt unwrap it while riding ( great idea for a feed zone ) and i will admit to slinging it at the nearest hedge row , i did feel guilty afterwards

I haven't checked as I don't use gels, but are any of these wrappers biodegradable? The ability to do this exists. I am not excusing the knobbers who do drop them, but it would seem sensible for the manufacturers to do this if they don't already.

Hang on whilst I take you post completely out of context ......NO:evil:

I have some freebies from wiggle and they dont appear to be biodegradable. I tend not to use them as it means shoving a sticky gel covered sachet into your jersey pocket....

typical detritus of the full pro-kit mamil plonker on a group ride in the Surrey Hills ime. I once picked up four discarded tubes between Ewhurst and my house.

We have a big race day in my village every year for the Danish championships. At the end of the day a lot of the adults and children walk and ride the course picking up gel wrappers, bottles, caps, etc. I must have 10 water bottles in my shed.

If it is an organised event then surely they should have a clean up team who walk the course to pick up. If they didnt, I would be objecting.
Two legs not two wheels but cph marathon on Sunday. By ten in the evening the Sparta machine had tidied the whole city up.

You do know these Sportives are considered as a race, and because some have a UCI sticker on them and you can ride a worlds qualifier, and you could be a world champion just because you have a BC Gold Membership...

Some people are just too serious about a massed start ride. It's NOT a race. Try TT'ing and road racing.

Chucking litter like that is just utterly unacceptable. No, no, a thousand times no.

Thankyou for answering my irrelevant post :stop::rofl: about the biodegradability of dropped gel wrappers in a thread about dropped gel wrappers.:o)

Isn't it a bit like football? Kids see professional players on the TV and copy them on their playing fields.....spitting every few seconds.....

Team-kit wannabes on bikes do the same with their litter.

In all the years of watching Jr football it's very rare you see kids spitting, if at all. If anything the kids copy the goal scoring celebrations from the professionals.

Nope, they're made from mylar. However, knowing the nature of the animal, putting even a tiny biodegradable logo on a package will just encourage the practice of suck and chuck. Lowlife remains lowlife but I think making them degrade perhaps outweighs the disadvantages. Bananas seem to have great packaging.
