Just got an email about transport options, you need to fill out an online form, it says not doing so will mean your entry will be incomplete...

In order to get 20,000 cyclists away, and to allow enough time to complete the event prior to the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic, the morning of the event will be an early start. To make sure your journey to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Ride Day is as straightforward as possible, all participants must provide their transport information through our Transport Options and Reservations survey. Without completing this survey, your entry for the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 will be incomplete.

Please make sure you understand all of the information below, prior to completing the survey.
GETTING TO THE START
There are three ways you can get to the start on the morning of the event:

1. PARK & CYCLE
We have a total of 5,700 car parking spaces at 18 sites across London for participants to pre-book at a special day rate. All spaces are available to be booked when completing the survey, on a first-come first-served basis. All car parks open at 04:00 and close at 21:00. Each car park will have a signposted cycle route to the start for you to follow.

2. DROP-OFF & CYCLE
Four official drop-off locations are provided across London where you will be able to be safely dropped off on the morning of the event. All drop-off facilities open from 04:00 and close at 07:00. Each drop-off will have a signposted cycle route to the start for you to follow.

3. STAY LOCAL & CYCLE
If you live locally or are staying at local accommodation especially for the event, you will need to cycle to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Plan your route in advance to make sure you don’t risk missing your start time.

IMPORTANT!
As a participant you CANNOT use the closed roads to get to the start on the route, either in a vehicle or by bicycle.
By choosing not to use one of the recommended Car Parks, Drop-offs or stay locally you are at risk that you will get caught out by the extensive road closures associated with the event, miss your start time and not be able to take part in the ride.

ROAD CLOSURES & PLANNING AHEAD
If you are driving to an official drop-off or pre-booked car park location, ensure you know the route you are required to take to avoid the extensive road closures associated with the event. If you are driving, use the map available on the survey and the directions in your confirmation email to plan your journey and remember that from 05:00, there will be no opportunities to cross the event route other than on the A3 or M25. Check www.tfl.gov.uk/prudentialridelondon for full details of the road and river-crossing closures on the day and plan ahead.

RETURNING FROM THE MALL
• If you are cycling back to an official car park, you will be expected to find your own way, so if you are unfamiliar with London come prepared with a map or GPS and plan your route at www.tfl.gov.uk/cycling – but remember, you will be cycling on open roads again, so will be sharing the roads with other traffic.

• Prudential RideLondon Chartered Thames Clippers, departing at regular intervals between 11:00 and 19:00, will be running from Blackfriars Pier to Canary Wharf, North Greenwich and Trinity Buoy Wharf Piers. They will be strictly for participants only, with no pre-booking required. Each boat can carry 50 participants and their bikes with a maximum journey time of 40 minutes.

• There will also be the opportunity to have your bicycle transported from near the Finish Area back to a secure location in east London between 10:30 and 19:30, while you make your own way on public transport. Further details of this will be sent to you at a later date.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT & NATIONAL RAIL
• There will be no form of public transport on the morning to get you and your bike to the start, and you shouldn’t plan to use it to return home either, unless you have pre-booked cycle reservations.

• Restrictions apply to the carriage of bicycles on public transport in London. Check www.tfl.gov.uk/cycling for details, and plan to cycle back to your car or accommodation in London.

• Check what restrictions your train operating companies may have in place for that weekend at www.nationalrail.co.uk

• If you are not planning to drive or be driven to a car park or drop-off point, you will need to cycle from your accommodation to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

PICK-UP
Please plan your meeting point in advance with your friend/relative. When planning your meeting point you will need to consider the following to avoid the extensive road closures and any congestion:

• Your agreed pick-up location should not be within a two-mile radius of The Mall, north of the river. This means that you will need to choose a location that is south of the river, north of Regents Park, east of Tower Bridge, or west of Kensington Gardens.

• If you are being dropped off at an official drop-off location, the same locations will not be available for use as pick-up locations.

• You are advised to use an existing off-street car-park facility, but make sure you agree this in advance. Many London roads require local parking permits and normal Sunday parking restrictions will apply.

For road closure information visit www.tfl.gov.uk/prudentialridelondon

FOUR KEY POINTS
• Plan ahead
• Consider the extensive road closures
• You are required to cycle to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
• Normal public transport rules apply

Looks like a 5 mile warm up ride from the Excel for me in the morning and a clipper to North Greenwich after the ride and the cable car over the river. I may need to dig the lights out for the bike.

When the email arrived I hoped it contained my start time. I hope we get them soon.

No start time in my e mail. and I could not see anything about where the car parks and drop off points are. I assume they tell you in the survey but I don't want to complete that until I've got a full plan in my head.

There's this I got in my confirmation email. Done a quick screenshot and also attached the pdf file too. Lots of letters as to where they are. But they're just dots on a map to me, not being from London or knowing it, they're not much good without any more info on them to me.

That's rubbish. Absolute shambles.

Hows this for rubbish: I filled in the survey and completed the process and when the confirmation screen came up it was a completely different registration ID to that in my RideLondon place confirmation email. So I have a confirmed place in the race, and I have completed the travel survey, and have two different ID's.

This, along with that utterly useless map for drop off points etc, plus the complete lack of support from public transport side of things (something I swear I saw would not be an issue on the day), plus no start times yet...argh wants me to tear my hair out.

I started researching travel options last night and I haven't far to go but it's doing my head in. I can't see which small roads will be closed. I'll have another look this morning to see if its any clearer. I blame post-notts fatigue!

Have a good day folks, sun appears to be out here

If you use this site http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/27647.aspx and scrol to the bottom there are a number of pdf documents with details and maps of the road closure. I see that we also go through a tunnel early on in the ride!

We've just booked into the O2 park and ride. I've been through the site again and I'm still singularly unimpressed with the logistics.

I'm staying at the Novotel by the Excel Centre the night before, so only 4.5 miles for me.
I'm just going to go to Waterloo afterwards to get a train back to Epsom. Hope I get a seat!
