Hello all!

A few of us Leeds folk have decided to organise a forum ride from our (the cool) side of the Pennines! 55 miles on a mix of lanes and B roads, around Otley, Harrogate, Knaresborough and Wetherby. Cafe stop is un-decided atm, but it is likely to be in Ripley or Knaresborough after 30 miles. The first half of the ride is very hilly, especially the initial climb out of Otley, but after that it's not as tough as our forum rides often are. - If you did the ride in the Dales a few weeks back this will be easy! We'll be meeting at Golden Acre Car Park, between Adel and Bramhope at about 9:45 for a 10ish set off. If there's anyone coming by train, i'm happy to meet you all at the station and ride up through town to the start, preferably at about 9:15 depending on train times.

Hope to see loads of you there!

I'm definitely up for this ride Calum but if I have to come over by train then 'Houston, we have a problem!' - the first train from here on a Sunday morning doesn't arrive in Leeds until 10:46, which would imply getting to Golden Acre Park at about 11:30 which is somewhat late!

I don't think my usual lift Kevin (tubbycyclist) can make this one because he is off on his hols the next day and has things to do. I'll see if I can make alternative arrangements ...

Uh oh!! That's rather annoying. I suppose we could start at 11 instead (I'm sure Colly will pick you up from the station if you're a very good boy!) Although if a few of the usual crowd come over, they may be able to pick you up on their way through.

I wouldn't have thought that colly would be driving for this one since it starts so close to where he lives.

I've just been looking at the route in detail. It looks like it was recorded on a GPS because there are a couple of places where it goes in the wrong direction and then does a u-turn!

I would usually ride to the start seeing as how it's only about 8 miles from me but it really would be no trouble to meet you at the station. If you fancy coming along just let me know.

I plotted the route kind of fast 'cos I was on my way out so I didn't bother to correct all the little odd bits route planners throw up.

There are one or two sections I would change slightly having reviewed it too. The gist of it is about right though.

I'm definitely intending to come if at all possible so thanks very much! It's really annoying that the trains from here start so late on Sundays. I'll try and sort out what I'm doing ASAP.

I thought that bit round by Eccup Reservoir had your hallmark on it, though we went round the back of the school last time. I remember how busy the A61 was. You nipped across pretty quickly, but Calum and I got stuck for a few minutes waiting for a gap in the traffic.

Let me know if you amend the route so I can program the right one into my GPS. (I know I probably won't need it, but I've got used to being able to see where I'm going on rides.)

Brave man!
Braver than me, that's for sure! I don't want to do that kind of distance because I wouldn't be able to sit down comfortably for a week afterwards and I don't currently have the fitness for it either. (Plus, I don't fancy riding through Halifax, Bradford and Leeds!)

This sounds great and right up my street but I'm already entered in the Bowland Beast or whatever it's called this year. But I was knocked out by the site you linked us to! Thanks for that, it's the best I've ever seen and so easy to use!
