Can those that want accomodation let me know before Monday so I got some idea of numbers when I visit the Betws Eco Lodge.

Price is £18 for one night or £24 for two nights. Its in dormitory with 10 beds. If any ladies coming they have a 2 bed female room or a 10 bed female dorm available. We can book it with a deposit but need to know numbers if possible.So please get in touch.

PMs are best way to let me know rather than posts on the thread.

Visited Betws Eco Lodge Today. The lodge is quite new and immaculately clean. The staff there are rightly proud of the place.

It is ideally placed to start the ride from.

If we make a deposit then they will earmark the whole one end of the lodge for us which would have 2 @10 person dorms anbd a 2 person dorm.Toatal of 22 beds if needed.

I told them that I couldnt guarantee numbers but thought there could be about 10.

They dont mix adult parties and children at the same time so if the other end of the lodge is occupied it would be another adult party.At the moment they have no bookings for the weekend in question.

We would have use of a kitchen and lounge area with comfy chairs TV etc. The showers/washrooms are all new and look good.

They are planning to build a secure bike storage outside but if that isnt ready theres a cleaners room in the lodge plenty big enough to store a dozen or more bikes overnight.

The village has a few shops a chinese takeaway and a chipshop but no sit down restraunts. The pub was very friendly beer was good but doesnt do meals. I know some good pubs that do meals that are less than 5 miles from the lodge so perhaps we could go out by car to eat then return to the pub in the village for a few beers.Its a short stagger to the lodge

I know its a long way off but if we want the place then its best to book it early.
Can anyone that hasnt let me know if they want accomodation send me a PM It would be nice to get a few more confirmed people before I hand over £100 deposit.

What do they want for one half of the place, is it rates as advertised or do we get a bit of a deal for a whole half. Anyway, I wouldn't want you to be out of pocket, so I would want to send you some dosh, though originally I thought after Xmas would have been better but it matters not.

Have we got a potential list then for numbers. I'll bang one out here as a call to arms.

Also Sparesprocket and tj cafferkey have expressed an interest.

The person showed me around wasnt the manager but she thought it was £100 to book the one end.So I guess a tenner deposit would be good if people are happy with that.


I know User482 plans to travel up do the ride and travel back on the day.

If anyone has any mates interested try and sign them up. We have a total of 22 beds if needed.

The full loop is about 100 miles but there are several options available. I did a loop of about 30 miles this afternoon from the lodge up the Ogmore Valley via llangeinor then down the Afan Valley and circled back via Maesteg and country lanes near Llangynydr.

Great ride but I wasnt prepared for the cold wind, no ice on the roads but my teeth were chattering on the descents

I can't commit until the New year, due to some pretty major changes at work, that will affect a whole bunch of things. I won't know how the land lies until sometime in Jan, at the earliest.

I've not figured out my exact plans either, I could drive over in the Morn but 8.30 is pretty early.

If you do both nights in the lodge it only works out at £12/night and leave you to enjoy the ride instead of arriving tired allready from the journey.
