Provided fog doesnt make it too late a start I am going to ride A bit of the Southern part of the route tommorow as a hilly 100 miler starting from my house in Barry. If fog makes a late start safer then I will take the meandering coastal route to the Severn Bridge pop over to the Dark Side for lunch then back same route. (This is a very flat ride unlike the other option)

Unlikely at such short notice I know but if anyone wants to join me Im kicking off about 0800ish.

Be great to see you Norry. Dont think our paths have crossed since the Snowdrop a couple of years ago? Maybe you can drag Brum Jim down as well.

Yep, it will be good to meet up again. Will hopefully have my bro with me, so couldn't get a third bike on the car I'm afraid. You doing the Snowdrop this year?

No.Cant do Snowdrop again this year due to work. Hope you and your bro do make it for the ride. Some spectacular scenery and no stupidly steep bits. Rode some of the route today.

Perfect, dry and not too cold.Bit of mist on top of Bwlch but cleared as I got up there.

Set of this morning for Port Talbot and a fuel stop. Baglan Bakery/Cafe..An oasis in the desert ^_^

Turn right at Tai Bach Rugby Club and head into the Afan Valley

This place was suggested by LD as worth looking into. Looks a bit more upmarket than the Newbridge Bunkhouse, will give them a ring re prices and things closer to the time. Its ideally situated right on the route and would allow us tro do the biggest climb early in the day.

Another scenic bit

I came back down the Cynon and Rhonnda Valleys into Cardiff and then home via Sully.
Used part of the Taff Trail to avoid the potholes and traffic fumes that are the features of Cardiff.

Great day out despite being Billy no Mates. About half my ride today was on roads earmarked for the April Forum ride.

For super cheap and basic accommodation you can camp at the glyncorrwg trail centre - I stayed there once when I was mountain biking at Afan.
