A number with an interesting property:
When I divide it by 2, the remainder is 1.
When I divide it by 3, the remainder is 2.
When I divide it by 4, the remainder is 3.
When I divide it by 5, the remainder is 4.
When I divide it by 6, the remainder is 5.
When I divide it by 7, the remainder is 6.
When I divide it by 8, the remainder is 7.
When I divide it by 9, the remainder is 8.
When I divide it by 10, the remainder is 9.
It's not a small number, but it's not really big, either.
So what is it?

Chuck it straight up.

Come on man, these used to be tricky!!

The warden meets with 23 new prisoners when they arrive. He tells them, "You may meet today and plan a strategy. But after today, you will be in isolated cells and will have no communication with one another.
"In the prison is a switch room, which contains two light switches labeled 1 and 2, each of which can be in either up or the down position. I am not telling you their present positions. The switches are not connected to anything.
"After today, from time to time whenever I feel so inclined, I will select one prisoner at random and escort him to the switch room. This prisoner will select one of the two switches and reverse its position. He must flip one switch when he visits the switch room, and may only flip one of the switches. Then he'll be led back to his cell.
"No one else will be allowed to alter the switches until I lead the next prisoner into the switch room. I'm going to choose prisoners at random. I may choose the same guy three times in a row, or I may jump around and come back. I will not touch the switches, if I wanted you dead you would already be dead.
"Given enough time, everyone will eventually visit the switch room the same number of times as everyone else. At any time, anyone may declare to me, 'We have all visited the switch room.'
"If it is true, then you will all be set free. If it is false, and somebody has not yet visited the switch room, you will all die horribly. You will be carefully monitored, and any attempt to break any of these rules will result in instant death to all of you"
What is the strategy they come up with so that they can be free?

What am I
Bound by peers to hinder my crimes
For fear I'll defile your eyes
Source of strength in previous times
I once laid a path to the skies
Fire, gold, or night of new moon
Bring these or the earth or the snow
Warm the thinkers blessed by my boon
And gashed, shall I ever regrow

2519. Good question and got the brain working this morning.
You are trying to find X first. X is the smallest number divisible by 1-10. The answer is then X-1
1x2x3x4x5x6x7x8x9x10 is divisible, but it is not the smallest number
Using lowest multiple theory, the number must be 2x4x5x7x9 = 2520, so the answer is 2520-1=2519

Born in Glasgow would make her (any woman) Scottish, and or British.

No it wouldn't. Your nationality comes from your parents, not your place of birth. If you were British and happened to be on holiday in France when you gave birth, your child wouldn't be French.

Bettys Box!
Betty bought a box when she was 20.
Betty puts $250 in the box on every birthday.
Each year, on her own birthday, Betty's evil sister Veronica steals $50 from the box.
Betty died when she was 60.
When the box was opened it was found to contain only $500.
Who is to blame for this shortfall, Betty or Veronica?

The conversations between the interviewer and the candidate are as follows
Interviewer : Can you tell me what number I am thinking of ?
Candidate : No I am not sure.
Interviewer : There are no zeroes in the number.
Candidate : I am still not sure
Interviewer : There is no repetition of digits.
Candidate : Sorry, I am not sure even now.
Interviewer : OK the sum of digits is a prime number.
Candidate : Sorry.
Interviewer : The first two digit number is bigger than the last two digit number. And no digit is 5. If you still don't know then I am sorry you may leave the room.
Candidate : Yes sir, now I know the number.

However if you take into account WD thoughts, its Betty's parents' fault, not Veronica's or hers.;)

You are in a room. There are two doors marked A and B. One of these doors leads to freedom, the other leads to certain death.

There are two other men in the room. They both know which door is which. One of them always lies when asked a question, the other always tells the truth when asked a question. You don't know which one lies nor which one tells the truth.

You can ask one question to one of the men, then you must decide which door to leave by
