Words Don't Come Easy
Complete these common words by using all of the letters A to Z, each exactly once.

*e*er
**eue
**o
ma*
*p*a*e*
*erso*
***k*am*on
*ouse
*a*
*ur*
***igent

At first I thought you had to use A to Z in order, which nearly broke my mind. Then I ignored that stupidity and started from the longest word and went backwards which wasn't too difficult.

fever
queue
zoo
mat
speaker
person
backgammon
house
wax
jury
diligent

Adding it All Up!
Complete this sum with the digits 1 to 6 to make the sum correct.
Perform each mathematical operation in the order shown, from left to right, e.g. 1 + 2 x 3 is treated as (1 + 2) x 3 = 9.
View attachment 75572

Note: there is no ÷ 1, and at no point is a decimal or fraction used.
4 + 2 - 1 x 6 / 3 x 5 = 50

Having messed around with it for a few minutes I realised that the correct way to do this was backwards ie what must be the final digit if the answer is "50"? Can only be "5"....and so on

Does anyone have any problem with these questions coming from books?

Hell yes!

I want you sitting up into the wee small hours straining every mental sinew and synapse to breaking point and typing the homespun riddles out through tears of sheer exhaustion for our entertainment.(*)

(*) 'course not, its good that you keep the thread running and us bamboozled wherever they come from

Care to explain?

Letters & numbers, innit?

January = 10|7|1

10 is the position of J in the alphabet
7 is the number of letters in January
1 is the position of January in the calendar

September = 19|9|9

19 is the position of P in the alphabet
9 is the number of letters in September
9 is the position of September in the calendar
