Eggactly How
If a hen and a half can lay an egg and a half in a day and a half, how many hens would it take to lay 18 eggs in 3 days?
Basically, 1 hen lays 1 egg a day.
So for 18 eggs in 3 days that's 6 hens.

Oh, and the woman had a miraculous sex change in the second last sentence.
Sorry, @classic33, but I think my answer of 17 was also correct. Yes, I know that the puzzle was most likely written with only 1 correct answer in mind, but even so, I maintain that my answer also makes sense. If all but 9 die, then I'm guessing it's probably... 9!
No.ARe there 18 left?
No problem!Thanks for nothing
no, that's not right .... I think.
Get it into whole numbers. Double the number of hens ... 3 hens can lay 3 eggs in a day and a half. Double the number of days ... 3 hens can lay 6 eggs in 3 days.
we need 3x6 eggs, so thats 9 hens.
(or eggs/hen day == 1.5/(1.5*1.5) == 2/3 eggs per hen day, so 18 eggs requires 27 hen days)
