Everything arrived today, impressed with free haribo from wiggle.

Everything went smoothly and as planned until it came to fitting the new chain. Pushed the rivet all of the way out of the link and spent 1 hour trying to get the bastard back in!!

All sorted and running smoothly. Thanks for the advice!

You wouldn't have needed to push a pin back in with a missing or quick link :thumbsup:

what chain was it? generally the rivet ends are splayed over so they stay out - rejoining a chain by pushing it back in can damage the side plate so you run the risk of the chain breaking when cycling. If shimano chain, then use the proper joining pin or a compatible split link.

see the shimano chain below - them horizontal lines are a result of a press acting on the pins to splay their ends.
