This would appear to be the tyre for me:
http://www.tweekscycles.com/Product..._medium=Base&utm_campaign=Road Clincher Tyres
It's got first class puncture proof qualities but will still be very fast....and more important its a folding tyre and from my reading easier to remove and refit...the schwalbe marathon+ is prob the ultimate puncture resistance tyre but also heavy and performance draining...so I think i'll go for the hardshell gator folding...

So you've never run over glass and it hasn't stuck in the tyre?

I have run over glass, and the tyre hasn't picked it up, if that's what you mean.

Or even had a puncture were the offending article has been expelled from the tyre?

no - never had one of those. My own experience has been that if something has enough force to go through the casing and into the tube, it usually stays there...

Excuse my ignorance but I presume the difference between the wire and folding tyres is that the folders are meant to be easier to remove...I found this with the Grand Prix 4 season ...they were easier to remove wheras gatorskin which i have on my 2nd bike are a bit of a pig...therefore I presume I should go for the folding version? is that right?

ease of fitting/removal has little to do with the folding bead. Some tyre/rims combinations are just harder to fit than others. It usually depends on the actual bead diameters that you are dealing with - for instance, trying to fit conti tyres onto Easton rims is usually a nightmare, but other brands like Schwalbe will usually go on without even needing levers...

The main difference it a foldable tyre is lighter but its also either to transport off the bike; the rim probably has more to do with the ease of fitting.

Glass and wet weather seems a precarious combination, but generally I am not wary of glass, most of the time pieces of glass and debris that does get stuck in the treat is soon ejected, although in an ideal world roads would all be smooth and free of glass leaving only the natural hazards like thorns and flints to worry about.

Not really...

AIUI, a folding bead is no more elastic than a wire bead, so won't go on a particular rim any more easily than a wire bead of the same diameter.

The main advantage of a folding tyre is reduced rolling weight. Hence folding tyres are faster.

I really like Schwalbe tyres, and in particular Durano+, but IME Schwalbe tyres do cut up excessivley, at least they do on the roads round here, (not counting M & M+ tyres in this).

I've put D+'s back on the CAAD at the moment but I do find I have to glue cuts up after every ride. I was using superglue but I'm now using THIS after a recommendation on here and it seems good.

FWIW I have Gatorskins on my commuter and I've got no cuts in them at all, go figure.

They are generally fit and forget (which suits me fine as I can never be bothered to change or patch a tube^_^) but they are heavy.

It's a trade off that works for me but might not for somebody else. They're quite expensive too - 2 new tyres and 2 inner tubes (700x25) came to 48 quid on Evans when I bought them!

silly question....but just about to order 2xhardshell gatorskin...when I thought why not buy only one...and replace just the back tyre (as that is where I get all the punctures..naturally) and keep the 4seasons grand prix on the front.....is that a silly thing to do ...or should I replace both tyres?...will it unbalance the bike?

If you are getting this many punctures so close together you sure there isn't something else wrong? Something still stuck in the tyre? Something inside the rim? Dodgy innertubes?

I've been running 4 seasons for over a year and only had one puncture on them in that time. Although I wrecked one blowing it out when my brake blocks went misaligned!
