Why do you have to swap the brake pads? Are there different pads for different wheel rim material?

A) The material is chosen to increase braking performance on the surface it is being used on
B) To reduce wear
C) So that any bits of metal or whatever embeded in the brake blocks from use with aluminium rims does not damage the carbon braking surface

Mr Haematocrit

msg me on kik for android
Can i ask what brake pads you are using with yours @Mr Haematocrit ???

I use Zipp cork pads for cooler months as they have a higher wear rate and absorb grit from the braking surface rather than grinding it into paste for the rims.
during the warmer months I use zipp tangente pro as from my experience you can really jump on the brakes when using them.
