Buy steel.

Just ride it, and look after it. I have a work bike that does most bad weather riding, but that's the one that takes guards and panniers.

The other 3 are ridden in the wet as and when.

Sometimes you wonder if some people buy bikes as a status symbol. We live in the UK, and a little bit of rain is going to completely change our normal habits? I don't get it.

A fair-weather cyclist is not a cyclist.

That's a bit harsh....
I bought a bike to get fit, get some fresh air, enjoy some family time and have some fun... I honestly don't find it enjoyable to get soaking wet through, so I would usually avoid going out in a downpour unless I really need to..... doesn't mean I'm not a cyclist does it??

The first two rides on my brand new Kona Sutra were accompanied by torrential rain and the bike ended up looking broken-in. I no longer feel precious about using it for its intended purpose and I don't fret that it has a bit of muck on it.

I went for a 30 mile ride this morning and the bike is now covered in dust how do I clean it without getting it wet? Perhaps I should stop using it when the weather is wet, dry or somewhere in between.

Like that's going to happen:becool:.
