A brand that flies under the radar is Ebac. Manufacturer in the UK, excellent warranty and an excellent machine. We have one of their dehumidifiers, again, designed for the damp UK climate unlike the rebadged Chinese imports that are more suited for the European market.

The Founder and former Owner appears to be a sound guy too, if this article is accurate: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39051964

My flat came with an Indesit, don't know how long it had been in use, but it worked for me for another 14 years.
I do 3/4 washings a week, mostly use one program, the quick wash.
I have replaced it with a Hotpoint.

Our ten year old Bosch washing machine has just done it's last wash because the drum had dropped and isn't worth the repair.
Bearing in mind that we typically use it once a week, we're not too impressed even though washing machines are 'quoted' as having a typical lifespan of about ten years.
In the myriad of experience that members have of such devices, any recommendations for a brand / model to buy or steer clear of please - ?

Not Washing machine but Tumble drier.

A year or few ago our Miele condensing drier started playing up. Dr Google advised that it was a failed sensor.

Phoned Miele for service visit and gave Plate # details. The service agent said that it had left their factory 22 years previously.

I cancelled the service request and bought a like for like replacement.

We've had an LG, which has worked fine for a decade or more, ditto one we had in the previous place which ended up donated to my Dad

We've used a Beko 7kg load cheapie for the last 13 years, run 2-3 times a week. It's never missed a beat even though we're in a hard water area (London).
I suspect that appliance reliability is just a lottery. We've had a Bosch appliance that terminally packed up a couple of months after the standard warranty expired. "Beyond economical repair" the Bosch engineer said.

LG seem the best currently typically, almost as reliable as Miele but much, much cheaper repairs. They are often more effiicient than Miele too using more advanced technology. They often come with full 5 year parts and labour warranties. I saw a recent offer on hotukdeals that is now expired and thought what a great deal.

I'm a very light user of my washing machine, only one load per week typically sometimes only one per fortnight but mine is a Panasonic/Vestel which seems like I've had 10 years now. It came with 5 years parts and labour guarantee and has never needed any attention. Vestel are highly regarded for washing machine reliability in Turkey although their reputation for televisions is not so good.

However if I was buying today I would be choosing between a LG or maybe a Ebac but with my usage I won't be surprised if my Panasonic sails on another 5-10 years.

We buy the cheapest we can find and have had as many as 20 years and as few as 6 years. I couldn't tell you the brand of any of them.

We've never gone for extended warranties.

If there was a machine that was serviceable and with parts available I'd be tempted next time.

My last machine was a Bosch. It took to boiling my clothes even on a low temp wash. Due to space constraints I swapped it for a Beko and really like it. A good choice of programmes and it seems to wash better.

Probably white with buttons and a glass door?!

We have a Bosch which I would highly recommend. Clearly your experience isn't as good and I agree +/- 500 washes is far less than one might reasonably expect.

This one was relatively reliable if not a little expensive to run…..
