If awareness and engagement are poor then a rebrand isn't the answer - just ask Evri or the British Government.

I think they should go back to nearer CTC roots perhaps pick up walkers too and take on where yha left off.

Cyclists and walkers tourist club...

Why not go the whole way and include tent campers? Didn't what is now the Camping and Caravanning Club and was once the Camping Club start as a section of the CTC?

A name change to Hermes?

The CTC's logo was the winged wheel once apon a time.

Years ago it was an organisation I joined because they did insurance. It also had a very boring magazine.

Then it changed its name from CTC to Cycling UK. It still did insurance. And still had a boring magazine.

What wonders lie ahead?

Exactly. Its the cheapest 3rd party liability/personal insurance I could find, more so as I am able to get the Student rate. The discounts can be good though I try not to buy for the sake of it, its worth checking before any purchase if they do one.

I wasn't in favour of the change from the CTC to Cycling UK in the first place, and voted against it.
Yet another change, no doubt the name will be thought up by a committee will be possibly more confusing.

Ah, but the OP says you need to be a CTC member to log in  There is no CTC.

I think it needs renaming 'sandal wearing cycling club'.

They have over the years shed the York Rally, the Birthday Rides, Holidays and Tours, all the things that made it a club. Compare and contrast the FFCT over the Channel.
Also British Cycling have - to quote a previous director of the CTC - parked their tanks on the CTC's lawn.

Likewise here.
It seemed as though it was being done for purely monetary purposes, with no thought, or care, given to their members.

Indeed. I too voted against the change and indeed the change to being a charity. I was never an active member but was happy to support it as being "a good thing" and also enjoyed the magazine. I have long since lapsed as it changed to something that no longer seemed worthwhile and the powers that be got rid of the guy writing useful technical content in said journal. Not impressed that quite a few senior executives seemed to be from the "great and the good" rather than having any real interest in cycling so it all got a bit self serving and pointless

I have no history with CTC and Cycling UK.

I joined Cycling UK a few years ago for the insurance benefits and I like their efforts to broaden the appeal of cycling.

However I find the magazine dull. For me the age of the magazine, any magazine, is long past.

Maybe CUK needs to make a takeover bid for an established Cycling forum.
