I'm rebuilding my rear wheel and have just taken the old one apart. To my surprise, the drive and non-drive spokes are the same length. I thought that was a no-no.

The wheel came from a very experienced wheel builder so I'd no reason to doubt the build.

So, intrigued, I input my hub/rim combo thru an on-line spoke calculator (http://leonard.io/edd/) Result? Left 291mm, right 289.2mm. Sod all difference so I guess that answers that one.

I've seen it on (I think) Exal LX17s paired with Deore hubs - obvs the right are further into the spoke nipple, but the spokes were the same length.

If you selected a front wheel with the same spoke length, that'd cut down on the need to keep a lot of spares, I guess...
