I raced a cyclist for a chair in a coffe shop once, does that count ?

Regards.

That's dangerous. Cleats on polished floors, bet that was funny !

You get alot of silly stuff on commutes. Mostly, with other roadies, we end up working together, and having a chat. As I'm on fixed, and if we are both going for it, conversation is quite difficult sustaining a high RPM, whilst the other guy is sat there in a big gear.

You just have to let it go, you will get guys chasing you if you pass them, just because, then they do silly stuff in traffic and are gone. I sometimes get passed by a guy whose none too keen when I pass him. I can't have a conversation with him as he has headphones on, I've tried and failed. The guy only ever passes me on the flat, or downhills. Show him a slight incline and I'm much quicker.

Sometimes I get passed when I'm not concentrating and this serves as a wake-up call so I start pushing again and re-overtake the passer. I realise that to the other cyclist it must look like I want to race, but really it isn't, it's just that they've reminded me I'm slacking

Usually it's the lads on those funny little trick bikes with the saddle set at about the same height as my knees with their legs going like a blur, even with the fifty year difference between us they can't last very long. As for the young fit road bikers...I don't even try, just a cheery hello as they sail by!!

Anyone overtaken another cyclist just because you want to pass them and they see it as a signal as a race and they try to over take you, draft behind you, get out of their saddle and sprint after you?

It's funny how it's always the other guy ;)

Do this all the time, tis fun, until you overtake someone and your chain comes off and you smash your jewel on the cross bar. They the ride pass loling

if someone younger & fitter passes me I see it as fair game to try and keep up to benefit from the reduced effort and higher speed of drafting. sometimes they can't actually go faster taking a turn in front, in which case I may re-pass - but if they are genuinely faster - well it would be a waste not to get a tow

It depends on the mood/weather had some one over take me clearly for the scalp but kept my pace the same and retook it.
Had people try to keep up with me when i was on my heavy commuter when I turned right on to my street all I heard when they past me was a arghhh ^_^.
It can be fun, makes you work hader than you normally would, it's been said before you win some you lose some.
