Mostly get overtaken :biggrin:
When the better weather comes though, I manage sometimes to overtake obvious "fair weather cyclists", me commuting all year round, so not losing fitness in winter.
Guys really hate being overtaken by a woman :laugh: once I got shouted "you should be in the cycle path" ... he was on the pavement, actually, the path had terminated a block before!
Another time I managed to pass a bloke on an incline, he passed me again on the flat, shouting "it's only hills I cannot do" :wacko:

Anyone overtaken another cyclist just because you want to pass them and they see it as a signal as a race and they try to over take you, draft behind you, get out of their saddle and sprint after you?

Sort of, I overtook a guy once and he clung to my back wheel. Made me push harder lol. We had a chat at the next set of lights and he was pleased I overtook him as it forced him to pick up his pace and stop being lazy. I took it as a compliment and we rode on together having a bit of a chat

// Don’t Play Leap Frog.
Train Properly: if you get passed by someone, it is nothing personal, just accept that on the day/effort/ride they were stronger than you. If you can’t deal, work harder. But don’t go playing leap frog to get in front only to be taken over again (multiple times) because you can’t keep up the pace. Especially don’t do this just because the person overtaking you is a woman. Seriously. Get over it.

:biggrin:

(That has happened to me. Nice girl, we started off together on a Sportive, after 5 miles she had dropped me, I never saw her again!)

Not much in these parts, you had better be damn sure of yourself if you aim to overtake another roadie, especially if there is a hill ahead. For the most part if anyone "catches" anyone else it usually has required a fair bit of effort and then we all tend to have a chat for a bit until we go different routes. Very friendly round here.

I only overtake young lads who have used up nearly all their energy overtaking me, then they slow down exhausted when they have got about five metres clear ahead which allows me to pass them without breaking sweat . :smile:

And especially if they are female and wearing a pink hat :whistle:

It happens every single time I go out for a ride on my 33 speed fixed wheel, normally I will be poodling along at 32mph, see somebody up in front and go for the scalp, I accelerate hard and go past at such as speed it sometimes catches them in my vortex, this gives them the thrust to come past. Now sometimes this effect works again on myself and can go on for miles.

On a good day I will even overtake people when on the turbo.
