I didn't know you could drink Marmite mixed with boiling water. I might try it tomorrow. 🤔 The concoction I made today was very nice, by the way!

I have it occasionally and dunk buttered bread in it as lazy soup substitute or legit bovril substitute

Yes, my other Grandad used to do the same with Bovril. It was ok but very salty
We used have a hot Bovril drink after swimming when we were kids
I recall having oxo with hot water. Wouldn't fancy it now but as a 10 Yr old it was what we were given.

I remember the hot Bovril at the local swimming baths - they should use that in their adverts like the latest 'Heinz - when you need comfort' ads.

My regular schoodlay breakfast when I was around 10-12 years old was bowl of ready-brek and a slice of toast with marmite. From when we moved to Scotland until we went to Singapore (my dad was in the RAF so we were never in one place for more than 2-3 years).

Did Fanny & Johnny 'invent' Marmite ?
A funny anecdote of mine, doing a sailing course, one of the crew was a Czech, quite why I don't know, Czechia is a land locked country.
Any way on the breakfast table was large jar of Marmite ,which he eagly spread on toast, he thought it was Nutella, his face was a picture when he found out, .....not a fan I suspect.
Where as I like a bit on my cheese on toast.

I made up a flask of Marmite (Tesco's own version) and Bisto vegetable gravy today. Three tablespoons of gravy to one heaped one of Marmite in approximately one pint of boiling water. It was quite nice and smelt nice, as someone said as they passed by as I was drinking a mug full.
