Why is it 'crossing fingers' or indeed, "keep everything crossed' when we hope for a good outcome? Where did this originate? - Crossing fingers or any other body parts leaves them more vulnerable/less available for action etc. The whole idea doesn't make sense.

It comes from Christianity and forming a cross to ward off evil and ill health

Do any of you know if there's a vegetarian alternative to Bovril?🤔 I fancy taking a flask of hot savoury drink out on my travels on freezing days like we're currently experiencing, but being a pescatarian I try to avoid animal related food and drink. 🧐

Is Ray Winstone a luvvy? I know he always plays the hard man and speaks with that cockney, gravel voiced accent, but I'm sure I've seen him wearing a cravat and a boutonnière in his jacket lapel, while speaking with a luvvy accent, similar to Jacob Rees-Mogg's posh accent. 🤔

You have to remember everything you see in public is an act. Different behind closed doors I am sure. Bit like people’s Facebook and Instagram are an act, and reality behind the mask is quite different.

just checked - apparently Marmite is Vegan!!
could be an option

Good idea! :okay: I've just made some Bisto vegetable gravy with chopped garlic, cauliflower, spring cabbage, mushrooms, onion and paprika added. The added veg was finely chopped and I heated the 'soup' up to almost boiling point in my microwave before putting it in a flask, so the very hot liquid should cook the vegetables in the hour or so it'll be in the flask before I have it.:okay:

Thinking about it now, I have some quorn mince in my fridge. I could've added some of that as well.🤔 Ah well, maybe I will do the next time!:okay:

Or you could get some vegetable Boullion (unsure of spelling). It's not a gravy mix but a stock base. Comes in a tub so you can experiment with how much or how little you would need in a flask of water. My Gran sometimes had it in the evenings when she wanted something more savoury than tea or coffee, but didn't want something as heavy as soup. But yes you could also try soup mix, it's basically the same thing but with larger chunks of dehydrated veggies in
