I like these on the back.
The SE design rather fell out of ffavour, I think because if they are not set up right they can lock your wheel in a heartbeat, but IME follow the instructuctions very carefully and there is plenty of modulation available. Good match with Ergo levers which include a QR.

Hi Pete I am looking around for some canti's for a steel kona build. Do you think there is a way for these rear SE to be converted for the front? I am thinking if possible I might get two, if not I might look for something else.

Only the rear is the SE design.
Can't think of any obvious conversion on the SE to make it safe for the front.
OTH if you wanted to split a set of something like CR720 (I don't think there is any difference between f&r on those) I'd be interested. I've heard somewhat mixed reports and quite keen to try for myself, as I just don't see how thy could be that much worse than my old Shimano wide cantis (which are adequate until you try descending twisty 30% slopes in the rain)

Pete THANKS for the quick and most helpful response! Unfortunately I think those 720 will be a little bit too shiny on a 1995 kona. I will probably try to find the pair of m550's I have lying around somewhere and see whether they are good enough.
