possibly the best places to put it are bus shelters (the panels on the end) and also service station toilets, ok, so there are no cyclists on the motorway, but you've a captive audience for longer than any other medium, presuming they've been putting off stopping for the loo as long as possible :stop:

might be best as two frames, one as it is, the second with the cyclist having fallen off.

might have a play myself when i've finished my uni work, can always add it to my portfolio
ps, i am a graphic designer.

OK.

Bollo, your fired!

If you don't, I know my kids will.

That's not very clear and not very well worded. It's a message from all cyclist, not just first person singular.

Getting posters designed and printed is really easy. It's figuring out what to do with them that's tricky.

Am I supposed to find this thread amusing?! It's the bit about the fake tan and Magnatrom being a wobbly cyclist that has got to me!!!

I also loved the fact that the other chap who did the second poster used a Mark 3 Capri - what a classic!!!

Seriously though - I think that a campaign to let car drivers know how close is too close is long overdue.

I think that the wording in the Highway Code is terrible - doesn't it say something like - Give cyclists as much room as if you were overtaking a car? or something like that?

Cars overtake one another really close and it's not a problem.

I have long thought that it needs to say something that means - give the cyclist enough room to fall over and not be hit by you but that just sounds naff!

Why can't a specific distance be mentioned? I would like about 5 feet in an ideal world thank you very much! :stop:

But that's the point, to make it first person. To give a cyclist a face and a family etc. The picture doesn't fit the meaning very well (it's all I had). Just put a picture of a good looking model of some description looking worried by a car passing in the red zone with the same message. It makes it very personal, and that I think is important in any campaign, to highlight that we are human.

Something like that^, not sure of the exact wording but think you're right. I think it's supposed to mean that they should pretend there was a car there so even though they might pass close to said virtual car they'd still be quite a long way from the cyclist nestling safely inside the virtual car. But that's not a great way to word it either.:stop:

And here's today's little illustration of how your average non-cyclist's perception of the space needed by a cyclist can be a little off the mark. In this case, I think he thought the pavement was the best place for me....

As for the posters (even if you get that Trillian character to do them) its going to need sponsorship from some corporation to make it a goer. Apart from giving the petrol companies a chance for some greenwash, what about Halfrauds? I know, I know! But its a place that has a foot in both the cycling and motor worlds, so it might just appeal to them from a free publicity point of view.

If it's any consolation, he'd probably have behaved the same had a car been coming the other way!

That's quite similar to this one I posted recently. Some drivers just don't like to admit we exist...

So can anyone come up with a better poster? I'm sure it can't be hard. I think there are opportunities to get a poster like this, which has been developed at the ground root level, into the public domain. But before we do that we need a good poster. So does anyone have any good ideas?

How? I'm not trying to be negative, I like the idea, but I think it might be an idea to figure out how you are going to use them before going a lot further. Because I don't think it will be as easy as you think.

I think it's a really good idea, though perhaps the poster details still need a bit of working on? I can't offer any suggestions though, my design skills are minimal at the very best.
