NB: I can do Ready Brek.

Totally with you on this. I really like ready brek but don't like porridge that much. Plenty of golden syrup and raisins/cranberries is the way to go.

I do mine in a small slow cooker. Put it on in the evening and in the morning it is rich and creamy even though cooked with skimmed milk.

The best porridge I had was when doing porridge, it was lovely. The porridge not the porridge!

If craving oatmeal, sometimes i just mix some of those dry oatmeal cookies into warm milk, after a few minutes, looks (rather) like that porridge my dad used to make. He learned in "The Great South Seas" during"the Last Great Dust-Up."

Can't stand porridge and just can't eat it ... dislike Milk as well

Don't mind muesli with a small splash of Milk and water ..so may try the same method with porridge and see how it does.

What's with all the microwave stuff?

I just pour a good load of milk in the pan, lash in a load of porridge oats, a touch of sugar and stirr now and again. I don't like it really gloopy, so stir a lot before the end and take it out before it becomes a stodge. Sliced banana doesn't go amiss and we're good to go!

The Glue that binds us together.
It gets mentioned a lot on here and I know it is a healthy option.

But....I have tried it on several occasions and I just cannot swallow it due to its lumpy, almost snotty consistency.

Won't go past my tonsils.

Am I on my own with this?

NB: I can do Ready Brek.
My other half was the same, she has to force it down, but it is getting easier for her, the benefits far out way the pleasure of eating it.

Erm... I have form on this topic.

My favourite way of making porridge is 1 part oats, 1 part milk, 2 parts water, put it in a pan to soak overnight, and warm it gently in the morning. Of course, real men take their porridge with salt. I however favour maple syrup, raisins, nuts, jam, berries, or pretty much anything like that. I've never tried porridge with bacon, but if I do, I'll report back.

I love porridge, but as a long range fuel, it's over rated. I'm always hungry by lunchtime...

Me too. Even if I have a full fried breakfast after my porridge and don't leave the table until lunchtime. It's a remarkably tough life.
