That's the first thing I buy when we change cars.

I really don't understand why cars come with that fragile stupid boot carpet stuff.
It's because they have a secret deal with fuel cleaner bottle manufacturers ;)

That would be like me going to Tesco buying a bottle of coke, opening it, drinking some of it and sticking it in the boot and hoping it didn't go everywhere then going back to tesco to complain it was there fault

I think you're all being very mean to young Matthew. I would also be pretty p'd off if something I'd bought in a screw top bottle had leaked. I think it should seal properly, period.

If it was me, I think I'd re-try: make sure I resealed it, firmly and with no cross-threading. Then, if it did still leak, I'd return to the shop, get them to secure the top, then invert the bottle and give it a little squeeze. Then if it leaks, ask them if they think that's acceptable.

In real life, common sense says that you should keep opened bottles upright. I've lost count how many times I've opened the fridge to leaking milk bottles, got home from the supermarket to find a bottle of floor cleaner leaking in the bag, etc. I still forget occasionally.

He's saying the over priced detergent was in a faulty bottle which Halfords sold. I can see his point. The Deputy Store manager didn't.
Don't such bottles usually have a safety cap and if the seal was broken it';s not their fault?

Welcome to retail. 15+ years ago paint manufacturers had to put "Keep upright when transporting" because people put the tin of paint in the back of the car, let it roll around and wonder why the lid came off. Was a manager in DIY retail for 13 years and heard it all!

I think people are maybe missing the point. Yes I was peed off about it spilling but I was more peed off about the customer service. At no point was I offered any resolution to my issue, all they did was try to sell me more sh1t!

Why would you get a resolution. It was not their problem. How are they to know how the product was stored after opening. If that had happened to me, my thought is I hadn't put the lid on/let it fall over.
